What's New in Halaxy: September 2025

Welcome to the September edition of our What’s New newsletter! Read on to discover the most popular feature releases from the last month and what we’re working on to make healthcare better.

Here are the top features and updates we’ve released in the last month.

Automated referral expiry notifications

You can set up automated notifications in Halaxy that alert you via an in-app pop-up when a referral is close to expiry, including setting up notifications based on: the number of appointments remaining, expiry date, or a dollar amount.

Automated referral expiry notifications further extend the benefits of Halaxy’s referral management tools and features, including:

  • Streamlining referral management and maintaining up-to-date referral information;
  • Ensuring that patients' access to rebates and other funding arrangements is not disrupted; and
  • Preventing cancellations and delays that are caused by invalid referrals.

Clinical order enhancements

We continually add new pathology features and tools to Halaxy – including enhancements to our Sonic Labs integration – that further streamline your clinical workflow and remove your administration.

We’ve made improvements to the Order Results page in Halaxy, including updates to how results are grouped, simplifying how you add order results to clinical notes, automatically updating clinical notes when new results become available, and more.

Patient status enhancements

We’ve added new patient status features that help you organise and categorise your patients in your Halaxy software. Our latest features include:

  • Add custom patient statuses: You can create and set a custom status for a patient, letting you further customise how your patient statuses appear.
  • View patient status change history: You can quickly and easily track patient status changes over time, including the date and time of a status change and any notes related to the status change.
  • Update status for multiple patients: If you want to update the patient status for multiple individuals at the same time, you can instantly apply a bulk update instead of editing each individual patient profile.

Other improvements

Discover some of the other improvements we rolled out in the last month.

Chemist2U integration: Our Chemist2U integration gives you another way to send eScripts, letting your patients choose to have any medication you prescribe in Halaxy be sent to them via Chemist2U’s prescription medicine delivery service.

Patient forms history: You can quickly and easily view the complete history of all the patient forms that have been received by a patient, including patient forms sent via email, SMS, an online booking and even a shareable public link.

Change invoice line date: You can quickly change the date for an individual invoice when needed, e.g. for merged or collated invoices. This makes it easy to update the invoice line date to match the main invoice date, the appointment date, or a custom date of your choosing.

Streamlined prescribing registration: We’ve updated and streamlined the eRx registration process, so you can now complete the entire eRx registration process in Halaxy. This makes it quick and easy to obtain a new Connection ID for a new practice location.

Clinical notes creation settings: You can disable the automatic creation of clinical notes for appointments booked using specific fees. All you need to do is open the fee you want to disable the automatic creation of clinical notes for and under the heading create clinical note, check No.

Custom invitation messages: We’ve added new customisation options to Halaxy so you can create custom invitation messages when you invite a patient to the patient portal.

Bulk patient portal invitations: You can now invite multiple patients to the patient portal at the same time. This helps streamline how you manage multiple patient portal invitations, helps onboard new patients faster, and removes your administration.
