New Feature: Send reminders to patients' family members and contacts
Halaxy's replaced the emergency contact field on the Patient Profile page with a new family member structure - so you can now send reminders to patients and their family members, and better treat and manage your patients.
Halaxy has improved the emergency contact field on the Patient Profile page with a new family member structure.
You can now send reminders to patients' contacts, and add family members and any type of contact required - improving patient management and care.
Learn how to enable Reminders for patients' contacts
You can enable Reminders when adding a contact to a patient's profile or updating an existing one - simply follow the steps:
1. Go to the patient profile;
2. Click Add Contact or click on the pencil icon to update an existing contact;
3. Select Enabled;
4. Complete the rest of the details and save.
You can add as many contacts as required who'll receive appointment reminders in addition to the patient - e.g. you can add both parents if the patient is a minor and the parents are separated or divorced. This way reminders can be sent to both parents.
New: Relationship and Type of Contact
Adding family members and other contacts to a patient’s profile allows you to select the nature of the relationship (e.g. patient’s spouse or sibling) and the type of contact (e.g. emergency, next of kin or even employer) – so you know whom to contact and patients have the support they need.
You can add as many contacts as you require to improve communication with patients and those who assist in their health care.
Adding a new family member or contact
To add a new contact:
- Click the Add Contact button;
- Select the Relationship and the Contact Type;
- Enter the name, and if there is no record yet for this person, select to add them as a new contact;
- Complete the rest of the details and save.
Important: All existing emergency contacts (name, number, relationship) have been migrated to the new family member structure and created as patient contacts, so you don't need to do anything.
Are the new contacts automatically added as patients?
No. When you create the contact, the status defaults to “contact”. You can change this status to “current” at any time if this person becomes a patient of yours, without affecting the relationship with the first patient.
Invite family members to manage the patient’s account
You can invite the family member to join the Patient Portal and have access to the patient's records, track appointments and invoices, search for and save a list of practitioners, and track the patient’s health.
